Red light setting

We’ve seen a range of responses to workplace training as Aotearoa New Zealand navigates the Omicron variant and red traffic light settings. The good news is that workplace training can continue with a variety of measures, depending on your policy settings on-site and of course in line with Red settings.

As Rapid Antigen Tests become more widely available, we are seeing our contract tutors arrive on-site before the session, get tested, and continue with their face-to-face sessions as usual, socially distanced and wearing KN 95 masks. Our experienced facilitators can adapt activities to a socially distanced environment in the same impactful manner.

For businesses that aren’t yet ready to have contractors on site, Upskills has several digital kits available for our clients to use. In this case, we can support learners to jump online and continue their learning in an online environment. Beaming the tutor virtually into a boardroom or larger space is another variation to online delivery. A silver lining is that staff digital skills get a boost as well.

We know we’ll see more employees self-isolating at home. In the instance where they feel well but are having to self-isolate as a cautionary measure, we can offer a more intensive programme, the Home Isolation version. This is where we coordinate groups of learners who are home isolating and connect them virtually to online sessions. It’s a great way to take care of staff well-being as they learn new things, remain engaged and relieve some of the boredom associated with home isolation.

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing Framework tells us that to keep learning and connecting are two ways to give our mental well-being a lift.  After the last two years of adjusting to life in a pandemic, continuing your learning for your employees can give them a well-being boost, as well as keep them connected.

The skill demands on our workforce don’t stand still, so it’s good to keep pace with their learning journey regardless. Talk to us about ways to keep the learning momentum going. Call us on 09 622 3979 or email Holly Patterson.
