Name: Lacey Hart

Role: Supervisor

Company: First Security

What do you enjoy about working at First Security?

I enjoy working for First Security as they have many things to offer me, improving my skills & helping me achieve more things that I didn’t even think were possible, they are a fair and compassionate company to work with.

What’s been your career path to get to your current role?

My path to becoming a Supervisor was a bit unusual. I was doing a military course in 2021, and they provided me with a COA. During that course, First Security became interested in me. This was my first-ever security job and my first site.

I went from a casual contract to a full-time contract, then progressed from an external guard to senior guard, 2IC, and now Supervisor—all within two years. It’s been quite nerve-racking!

What have been 3 most important things you’ve learned along the way?

The three most important things I’ve learned are: to be myself, to recognize that everyone is different and comes from diverse cultures and backgrounds, and to understand what type of person I am and how I can be a better leader.

How did participating in the Leadership Programmes support your learning journey?

Being in the leadership program really helped my confidence, and I was able to overcome a lot of issues I had on my site. I learned better ways to handle situations, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to take that course.

What has changed for you since taking part in the Leadership Programme? How have you applied the things you learned? Have you shared with others and what does this mean for your and your family?

What has changed? I won an award for Static Training Guard of the Year—never thought I’d ever win something like that! Not much has changed at work, aside from working with new people and handling situations with people better. As for my family, they are really proud of me for achieving all these things and have never stopped believing in me.
